Global firm re-formulates R&D plan from in-depth data analytics

Share this case study Print

A multinational firm had developed an improvement on an existing high volume product.

The firm sought to patent the new design in order to further commercialise and enhance their current market position.

Glasshouse Advisory's analytics team conducted a patent landscape and commercial landscape study in order to:

  • identify the strength of the new design; and
  • to identify untapped commercial markets for the improved product.

The data analytics insights illustrated that similar patent designs had already been developed and more importantly identified areas for improvement on the current new design.

The result of these findings gave enough supporting evidence for our client:

  • to continue to develop their design;
  • to re-focus their R&D approach to enable them to better commercialise their product; and
  • leverage their market position for competitive advantage.

It was clear to our client that, had they not sought our expert analytics advice, they would have missed opportunities to further commercialise their product.
